The International Forum of Seafarers  was held in Dakhla, Morocco, on 23 and 24 November 2019. The event was organized by ACCI and its partners with the aim of bringing together nations and their perspectives on the Blue Economy. This event, considered the first of its kind, will provide a focal point for African nations as they explore and capitalize on the opportunities offered by their ocean riches, seas, lakes, rivers and streams. With a cumulative exclusive economic zone exceeding 13.5 million square kilometers, Africa has no way of avoiding the call of the sea and its role in creating sustainable prosperity for its 1.2 billion inhabitants. In addition, the forum highlighted the role that African nations can play in advancing thinking, science, technology, infrastructure, training and innovation in all sectors of the Blue Economy. The methods used to collect contributions for this report include compiling comments, questions and answers to these questions during the forum. A survey of delegates was also used. Finally, one-on-one conversations during the event made it possible to better understand many subjects. The highlight of the results generated by these methods has been distilled into a set of recommendations.

The recommendations are designed to inspire action while representing the collective point of view of delegations. They provide a focal point for the activity and establish a reference base for a collective approach in achieving Blue Economies in Africa.
